Q: My bonding company told me that I had to be at every court date, or
forfeit my bond. Is that true?
A: In most circumstances, a lawyer will be able to appear on your behalf.
If we tell you that you are not required to appear, it is because we do
not need you there for any reason. If there was even an outside chance
that your appearance was needed or would help, we will tell you to be
in court. Your bonding company is correct if you or someone representing
you does not appear, your bond would be forfeited. It is important that
we are able to reach you by email or phone. We will keep you informed
about your court dates.
